Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo has reportedly died following a helicopter crash on September 30, 2026, prompting tributes from companies and associates who worked with him.
Chivayo was the founder of a group of businesses operating under the IMC Group of Companies and WMC 777 Airways, including Intratrek ZW (Pvt) Ltd, IMC Communications and IMC Construction.
In a joint statement published on October 1, the companies expressed grief over the reported death of their founder, describing him as a visionary leader who played a central role in building the businesses.
“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we learnt of the passing of our beloved founder, a visionary leader and a pillar of strength to our group of companies,” the companies said in the statement.
The companies described Chivayo's life and career as being defined by hard work, integrity, innovation and service. They said the values he promoted would continue to inspire future generations.
They also extended their condolences to his family, friends, employees, business partners and others who had been affected by his leadership and personal relationships.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” the statement concluded.
Associate pays tribute
A close associate, Shamase, also mourned Chivayo in a post on X, describing him as a founder and visionary whose influence extended beyond his businesses.
“It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of our Founder and Visionary,” Shamase wrote.
The associate said Chivayo's leadership, dedication and vision had affected both the companies he established and people around him.
The message was published jointly in the name of IMC Communications, IMC Construction, Intratrek ZW (Pvt) Ltd and WMC 777 Airways.
